Brazil Consulate Hosts Akede Oduduwa Cultural Event in Lagos –

Culture will always remain a strong indicator of beliefs, tenets, traditions and generally the way of life of a people. The Yoruba culture is one of the strong cultures that cut across several countries of the world.
And that culture came alive on Thursday September 19, 2019 at the Brazilian embassy in Victoria Island Lagos where Akede Oduduwa cultural event was hosted.
The essence of the event was to promote the cultural ties between the Yoruba in the the two nations, i.e Nigeria and Brazil.
Distinguished guests who graced the occasion cut across the academia and virtually all works of life, resplendent in various shades of the Yoruba traditional attire.
Lectures were delivered by professors Professors Oladele Caleb Erimoogunje of the Lagos State University as well as Professor Tayo Julius Ajayi, espousing the Yoruba culture.
There were also several electrifying sessions of cultural dances and displays from the National Cultural  

Group as well as singer Azeez Ajani Ajobiewe who kept the guests keeping merry bobs to the rhythms of their superlative cultural renditions.
Speaking at the occasion, Head of Mission at the Consulate General of Brazil in Lagos, Helges Samuel Bandeira, emphasized the importance of knowing one’s culture and history, as it was pertinent in also charting the way into the future.
Prominent guests at the occasion included; HRM Oba Awoyemi Oroja Akarakiri1. Oni Meiran of Meiran Kingdom, HRM Oba Rilwan Oluwalanbe Taiwo, Olojokoro of Ojokoro Kingdom, Yeye FoluwasoAdeogun-Oga, Yeye Osun, Oba Tajudeen Olarenwaju Bakare, Oba Ogboni Agbaiye Abalaiye, Chief MrsFunke Rotifa, Iya Asa Warri, Professor Tayo Julius Ajayi and Adun Okupe.
Others personalities were President Casa Heranca de Oduduwa Brazil, Ajoyemi Osunleye, , Iba Gani Adams, Aare Ona Kakanfo Yoruba land, High Chief Ifasegun Elegushi, Opemolua of Ikate Land, Professor Oladele Caleb Orimoogunje and Chief Kasim Bimbola Lawal of worldwide celebrity magazine/CETV.
Part of the occasion was a tour of the museum in the embassy where various artifacts of the Yoruba kingdom were on display as guests went round taking in their rich cultural history with consummate delight.
The high-point of the event was presentation of certificates to attendees by the consul General of Brazil, as everyone of them took turns to have a snapshot as he gave out the certificates.
